Today, the Hope Spring Water team visited the community of Angwa Maikau in Nasarawa state to conduct a crucial geophysical survey. The purpose of this visit was to identify the optimal location for a new water source that would benefit the entire community.
Upon arrival, the community chairman warmly welcomed us and showed us a suitable plot of land in the center of the village. This strategic placement would ensure the water source is easily accessible to women and children, who often bear the burden of water collection.
The geophysical surveyor then meticulously carried out his work, carefully analyzing the land to determine the presence and quality of the water table. This step was crucial to ensure the selected location could provide a reliable and sustainable water supply for the community.
After the survey, the village head suggested a slight adjustment to the drilling location, in case the government decides to construct a road in the future. The team promptly marked a new spot within the community, taking into account the feedback and input from the local leaders.
It was heartening to witness the community’s active involvement in this process. The men of the village eagerly dug the marked location to familiarize themselves with the exact coordinates, ensuring they understood and supported the final decision.
Throughout the visit, the community’s hospitality was truly remarkable. They generously offered the Hope Spring Water team and the geophysical surveyor refreshments, including cashew fruit and malt. The villagers expressed their gratitude for our presence and their excitement about the potential water project, which they believe will bring numerous benefits to their community.
This collaborative effort between the Hope Spring Water team and the Angwa Maikau community is a testament to the power of community-driven development. By working closely with local stakeholders and incorporating their feedback, we can ensure the success and sustainability of this vital water project. I look forward to the next steps in this journey and the positive impact it will have on the lives of the people of Angwa Maikau.
On 30th January Hope Spring Water team visited Angwa Maikau Nasarwa state to carry out Geo- Physics. On the getting there, the community chairman showed us a space of land, for it to benefit the entire community we chose the centre of the community so that the water can be easily accessible to the women and children
The Geo surveyor carried out his work to ensure the location chosen has enough water to serve the community and avoid areas that have issues.
After the geo survey was done the village head suggested the drilling should be shifted a bit inside paradventure the government decided to do the road so it won’t affect the borehole. A new place was later marked inside.
After the spot was shown to the community the men dug the location to ensure they know the exact location of the place shown by the geo surveyor
It is important to note that the community are so hospitable as the gave Hope Spring Team and the geo- surveyor cashew and malt. They also thank us for coming and stated that the water project will help the community in numerous ways. You can read about our first visit to the Angwa Makyau community here.
