WASH in health care facilities means regular supply of quality water, proper waste disposal management, quality infrastructure and quality hygiene.
Basic WASH services are lacking in most low-income Health care facilities. According to a report by WHO and Unicef Joint monitoring for Water supply, sanitation and Hygiene. One in Four health care facilities around the world lacks basic water services.
This has resulted in the inability to provide safe health care and exposing health care workers and patients to great health risk. Poor WASH services in health care facilities also affect childbirth safety.
