“Water Run” is an advocacy and fundraising initiative by Hope Spring Water Charity Foundation, aimed at alleviating water poverty in Nigeria.

The maiden edition of the Water Run, tagged “Hopespring WASH Run” was held in Abuja, in November 2018. Building on the success of the maiden event, the “Lagos Water Run” was organized in January 2019. Both events attracted partnerships from various NGOs, private sector and government agencies in Nigeria. Funds raised from each event have been used to drill boreholes for poor and vulnerable communities in Nigeria.

The International Day of Sports for Development and Peace is a global annual event, held every 6th April to highlight the importance of sports as a tool for social change and community development. Leveraging on this year’s celebration, the “Abuja Water Run” aims to highlight the power of sports as a development tool to address Nigeria Water Crisis.
