Ese Johnson

My name is eseoghene Johnson. I served under the NYSC FCT Scheme during 2017/2018 batch. Many complain about the rigours of NYSC, I saw beyond that and promised to make my service year principally an opportunity to help a large number of people, through community development services.

I was a member of the SDGs team, I have always been a strong advocate for development in Nigeria and so this seemed like the best opportunity to share my desire for a new Nigeria, with a large number of youth. I was quite passionate about creating positive change  in our nation.

My personal community service project, was constructing a borehole for Zhidu community,  in Lugbe area of Abuja F.C.T. The objective of the project was to reduce ill health, caused by lack of access to safe, clean water. This is a major problem in Nigeria, as well as other part of the world.

Building a borehole to serve a community, the size of Zhidu was a major project, which required a lot of time and capital. I was fortunate to have a strong support from my friends and family, as well as Hope Spring  Water Charity Foundation. Hope Spring financial support, technical know how and assistance helped tremendously, in ensuring I saw the project to completion.

It was quite satisfactory, to see the  borehole completed and commissioned on time. I really appreciate  Hope Springs Water Charity Foundation contribution. Without my friends and family support and donation, I could not have succeeded.  Most of all, I really appreciate the help and support I was given by Zhidu community, for giving me the opportunity to serve their community. Their open mind and unwavering support was moving, despite the fact that they know I am a novice in coordinating and project  managing a project like a community borehole development.
